Past Verve Shows

Verve Debut

Our very first Verve! Oh the memories of our beginnings. This was the perfect way to start off our Verve season. We had one of our most brilliantly gifted and dynamic artists Nhojj and one or most beautifully artistic and captivating supporting artist Crystal Monee Hall in on the same stage.

The night featured a set of re-arranged jazz standards like Someone to Watch Over Me and Night and Day as well as original songs from the artists. I must say we threw one classy party – live five-piece band, background singers, wine, hors d’oeuvres and most importantly…atmosphere. We so far exceeded our expectations.

Holiday Verve

Twas the week before Christmas that our next Verve occurred
there was drinking and eating and music to be heard
The acts were on fire and lord did the band swing
Who knew what bliss a Christmas Verve would bring

Our audience so enjoy Nhojj and Crystal Monee Hall we had to bring them back for our Holiday Verve. They did not disappoint…as if they ever could. The night filled with holiday classics like Santa Baby and This Christmas as well as holiday love songs like I’ll Be Home for Christmas and I’ll be Every Christmas. It was the perfect night and a perfect way to celebrate the season

In Search of High Love

In Search of High Love was our most highly anticipated Verve event. For this Verve the Well Entertainment Group partnered with the urban entertainment and fashion authority Bleu Magazine to celebrate their Winter 2009 release featuring Jensen Atwood.

I dedicated this event to a subject I believe everyone is familiar with...LOVE. I got the idea after listening to Chester Gregory’s debut album titled, "In Search of High Love" and was ecstatic when Chester agreed to be the headliner for the evening. Chester Gregory is no stranger to the subject of love nor to the stage. He is an award winning singer/songwriter and well-known Broadway star.

Half-way through are planning process I learned poet/spoken word artist, comedian, vocalist, actor, producer and director Buttaflysoul would be hosting our Verve event! I just kept getting better and better.

Buttaflysoul is a performer unlike any I have seen. There is never a dull moment nor a lack of energy when Butta is on the stage. He can move you to tears and make you laugh till it hurts, all in one performance. And he did just that.

The first part of the evening consisted of performances by electric-pop star Dy’Ari, Nhojj, Anwar Robinson and Kimberly Nicole. The night was (as I always say) electric! There is just no other better word to describe it.

Women At The Well

I thought it would be appropriate and exciting to create a Verve showcasing the Women of Well, so I appropriately titled it…Women of the Well.

I have to say it was an explosive night of spoken word and song. This Verve featured our MC for the evening comedian/actress Kibibi Dillon, Judith Casselberry, Crystal Monee Hall, Kenya Sollas and Poetry Slam champion Akua Doku. The combined talent on that stage and the energy in that room was rapturous...to say the least. We will surely do another Women of the Well next season and hopefully take this show on the road!!!
